Dubai: A Lebanese man was severely injured in a car crash in Ras Al Khor, which caused serious tailbacks on Sunday morning.

Lt Col Ahmad Atiq Burqibah, Deputy Director of the Search and Rescue Department at the General Directorate of Transport and Rescue at Dubai Police, said the man who was injured crashed into a 4x4, and got stuck in his vehicle due to the impact.

“We had to cut him out using hydraulic cutters and other equipment. His injuries were severe and he was transferred to Rashid Hospital by ambulance for treatment,” he said.

He added that the accident took place on Ras Al Khor Road just before the entrance to International City and Dragon Mart.

According to the traffic department, the accident occurred around 11.20am on Sunday.

The accident caused tailbacks in Ras Al Khor, as well as near the Fruit and Vegetable Market on Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road, according to eyewitnesses.
