Dubai: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is offering 400 new vehicle licence plates in its forthcoming 43rd online auction, said a senior official

The plates comprising three, four and five digits of different codes namely G, H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P, Q, R and S can be procured through an online bid. Registration for the auction will commence on Sunday and the bidding will start at 8am on October 30 and continue for six days.

Sultan Al Marzouqi, Director of Vehicles Licensing at RTA, anticipates an intense participation in the auction as it offers a galaxy of distinguished plates that are much sought-after by RTA clients. He said “successes of this sort of auctions in the past have contributed to boosting the e-services that are an intrinsic part of the annual plan” of the Vehicles Licensing Department aimed at improving the quality of public transactions and cutting waiting time for customers,

Customers can log on to the RTA website www.rta.ae or register through any of the RTA customer service centres. They will have to pay Dh5,000 as a security deposit before the start of bidding by a credit card or a cheque addressed to the RTA, or in cash.

If the bid fails, the amount will be refunded to the customer. Conditions of the auction stipulate that the bidder must have a vehicle registered in Dubai, or a driving licence issued from Dubai.

“A team from the RTA’s call centre has been furnished with all information related to the auction, and stands ready to respond to any public enquiries made through the toll-free number 8009090 about procedures for participation or payment,” said Al Marzouqi.
