Dubai: Dubai Traffic Police issued 5,790 fines and impounded 286 vehicles during Global Village’s 2015-2016 season.

Colonel Said Muhair Al Mazroui, director of Dubai Traffic Police, said that between November 3, 2015 and April 9, 2016 there were 218 minor accidents recorded in the Global Village area, and that out of the 286 impounded vehicles, five were motorcycles.

He praised the teams responsible for traffic control at Global Village, for organising traffic flow on internal and external roads, easing congestion and ensuring pedestrians crossed safely.

Col Al Mazroui said that the department will also be evaluating traffic-related issues in the area of Global Village to ensure traffic safety.

The most common violations noticed by traffic police in the area were incorrectly cutting in in front of other vehicles, not abiding by lane discipline, not giving way to pedestrians, not renewing vehicle registration, and driving in a way that threatens the public’s safety.
