Dubai: Requests for vehicle clearance certificates, vehicle ownership certificate and a host of other auto licensing-related services will be available online from November 20, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Wednesday.

The move is part RTA’s Smart Transformation initiative, which has already seen 173 services moved online, many of which are only available through the website and smartphone apps.

According to RTA, the move has helped cut down trips to its customer care centres by half, helping reduce CO2 emissions.

Since November last year, when RTA launched phase one of the smart transformation drive, the Licensing Agency has processed 144,433 transactions.

Apart from the website, the services are also available through call centre (8009090), self-service machines (kiosks) and RTA’s Drivers & Vehicles App.

Some of the new services to be available online are Clearance Certificate confirming no outstanding obligations or restrictions with RTA, Ownership Duplicate Certificate as replacement for lost or damaged original certificate, Reinsurance Certificate that enables clients to recover the premium in case a vehicle sustains an accident or is written off, and Vehicle Ownership Certificate.
