Abu Dhabi: In a bid to reduce the number of road accidents, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) on Wednesday launched its third traffic awareness campaign for the year.

Titled ‘Summer without Accidents’, the initiative aims to enhance road safety, and reduce the number of accidents. It will continue until September 1, the MoI announced in a statement. There will also be special activities designed to raise awareness among motorists and road users about the dangers posed by various practices.

The campaign is being implemented by the Traffic Police, in cooperation with more than 20 entities that deal with traffic safety in both the private and public sectors, said Brigadier Gaith Hassan Al Zaabi, Director-General for traffic coordination at the MoI’s General Directorate.

He added that the summer initiative will also aim to reach as many people as possible through the use of social media. Billboards will also be erected, and public seminars organised during the period.
