Sharjah: King Faisal Road in Sharjah has been temporarily closed on Thursday and would be reopened on Saturday, a senior police official said.

The road has been closed to carry out expansion work.

The road was temporarily closed by Sharjah Police in coordination with the Directorate of Public Works and motorists have been advised to take alternate routes.

Motorists travelling from King Abdul Aziz Road to the Central Souq (Souq Al Markazi) will have to take a right and a U-turn that will lead them underneath the bridge and towards Al Wahda Street.

Motorists heading towards King Faisal Bridge will not be affected.

"The road has been closed to carry out expansion work. King Faisal Road is one of the most vital roads in Sharjah and there has always been heavy congestion since a large number of vehicles use that road on a daily basis," said Lieutenant Colonel Ahmad Bin Darwish, Head of Anjad Patrols.
