“A variety of activities, contests and events are lined up throughout the day, with the aim of encouraging commuters to use more of public transport means spanning the metro, tram, public buses, and marine transit modes such as the waterbus and the water taxi,” said Abdullah Yousuf Al Ali, CEO of RTA’s Public Transport Agency.

But the main event of the day will be the ‘Find the Treasure’ contest that will see participation of 20 teams of three to five commuters each.

The competition will begin at 3pm on Tuesday and interested commuters have to register from 12pm on the same day at the Dubai Ice Rink.

“The race will start at the ice rink and the teams with a minimum of three and a maximum of five members can spread to six different stations and return after finishing their tasks to earn points,” said Al Ali.

One of the key tasks for the participants is to take selfies with the name of the station on the background.

He added that each team in the game has to work out a strategy of amassing the highest number of points as quickly as possible in order to win the contest.

The three quickest teams will take home prizes of Dh15,000, Dh10,000 and Dh7,000 respectively.

The seven starting points for starting their journeys are BurJuman and Mall of the Emirates metro stations, JBR tram station, Dubai Marina water taxi station, Al Ghubaiba water taxi station, Al Ghubaiba bus station, and Ibn Battuta bus station.

All winners, including 50 taxi drivers, will be honoured at the Dubai Ice Rink on Tuesday.
