Abu Dhabi: Public parking in the capital will be free during the upcoming Eid Al Fitr holiday, the Integrated Transport Centre announced on Wednesday.

If Eid falls on Sunday, June 25, parking will be fee from Friday, June 23, until 7.59am on Wednesday, June 28. If Eid falls on Monday, June 26, parking will be free from Friday, June 23, until 7.59am on Saturday, July 1, the ITC said.

The ITC regulates public parking and transport under the emirate of Abu Dhabi’s transport sector regulator, the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport (DMAT).

Motorists must, however, ensure that their vehicles are parked in designated slots, and adhere to regulations regarding residential and non-residential parking zones from 9pm till 8am.

The DMAT also announced that all its customer service centres will be closed over the Eid break. They will resume operation on Wednesday, June 28, if Eid falls on Sunday, June 25. If Eid falls on Monday, June 26, the centres will open on Saturday, July 1.

Meanwhile, all bus services within the emirate will function according to their usual schedules, except on the Abu Dhabi-Al Ain route. On this route, morning services will operate as usual on Thursday, June 22, if Eid falls on Sunday, June 25. Evening services on Thursday, June 22, will be available every 15 minutes from 1pm to 6pm, whereas the service will resume on Friday, June 23 between 2pm and 6pm. On Saturday, June 24, buses will operate between 2pm and 6pm and from 8pm to 11pm. On the day of Eid (if it is on Sunday, June 25), services will be available from 9am to 2pm, and they will be available from 2pm to 10pm on Monday, June 26.

If Eid falls on Monday, June 26, morning bus services will operate as usual as on Thursday, June 22. That afternoon, the service will be available every 15 minutes from 1pm to 6pm, whereas the service will resume on Friday, June 23. at 2pm and continue till 6pm. On Saturday, June 24, buses will be available between 2pm and 6pm only, and they will be available between 2pm and 6pm, and 8pm and 11pm on Sunday, June 25. On Monday, buses will operate on the route from 9am to 2pm, and from 4pm to 10pm on Tuesday, June 27.
