Dubai: Police across the UAE warned motorists to slow down and switch their fog lights on after Monday morning’s fog reduced visibility on the roads to 100 metres.
The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) recorded a drop in visibility to 200m in some areas, and advised passengers to check the flight status in advance after a number of flights were delayed in Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.
An accident happened on Emirates Road, according to Google Maps, causing heavy delays in both directions.
Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed (MBZ) also faced major delays as cars were bumper-to-bumper in both directions, especially coming in from Sharjah.

Visibility on roads in Sharjah were significantly affected by dense fog.
The thick fog also affected traffic flow in Al Khail Road, Business Bay area and the Ras Al Khor Road leading to and from Dubai.
Two accidents were reported on MBZ before and after the Dubai-Al Ain Road intersection, causing further delays in the area.
Dubai Police also warned motorists of non-existent visibility on the Dubai-Al Ain Road, and advised drivers to be cautious.

An accident also happened on Shaikh Zayed Road, near Safa Park, which caused traffic snarls in the direction of Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi Police urged drivers to be cautious due to the low visibility that affected a number of roads, and reminded motorists to follow the traffic rules.
