RTA completes Dubai Parks Bridges Project, costing AED250m photo:rta

Dubai: Work on a new interchange on Shaikh Zayed Road that allows direct access to Dubai Parks and Resorts has been completed and will open for traffic when the theme park opens at the end of this month, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced on Saturday.

Dubai Parks and Resorts, another landmark addition to leisure destinations in the emirate will be home to Motiongate Dubai, Bollywood Parks Dubai, and Legoland Dubai in addition to Legoland Water Park.

The interchange and a network of roads, built at a cost of Dh250 million, will provide entry and exit to and from Shaikh Zayed Road from the direction of Abu Dhabi as well as Dubai. It also offers a direct 7-kilometre-long link between Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road and Shaikh Zayed Road running within the theme park, with two lanes in each direction. Other internal roads run up to 9 kilometres.

“It comprises a three-lane bridge stretching 1,500 metres as a main entry on the Shaikh Zayed Road for vehicles coming from Dubai heading to Dubai Parks. It also includes a two-lane bridge stretching 1,000 metres as a main exit on Shaikh Zayed Road from Dubai Parks in the direction of Abu Dhabi,” said Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of RTA.

The Motiongate Dubai features Hollywood-inspired designs comprising 27 innovative attractions and a special zone for displaying DreamWorks Animation in 12 facilities beside game arcades.

Bollywood Parks Dubai presents a vibrant celebration of Mumbai’s famous film industry with a rich 800-person stage for displaying local talents and Bollywood celebrities and is considered the first of its kind worldwide.

Legoland Park features scores of aquatic games including an artificial waves pool with a capacity of half a million gallons. It also includes an interactive platform, which enables children to build bridges, dams and cities.

The project also includes 35 retail outlets, 20 food outlets, 65 restaurants and several other retail outlets along the Riverland complex.
