Dubai: Dubai Taxi’s disabled vehicle service has won them the fifth Princess Haya Award for Special Education.

The award comes in recognition of Dubai Taxi Corporation’s (DTC) corporate social responsibility efforts and the support to people with special needs.

The DTC, which is a subsidiary of the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) was felicitated during the awards distribution ceremony held at Johara Ballroom, Madinat Jumeirah under the patronage of Princess Haya Bint Al Hussain, wife of His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

The award, which is held biennially, aims to show recognition and encouragement to entities that make diligent efforts in support of the disabled. It also seeks to enhance the innovation through adopting world-class standards and nurturing a competitive environment capable of improving the level of future services and ensuring their continuity.

Ahmad Khalfan Al Suwaidi, CEO of Dubai Taxi Corporation hailed the efforts of DTC employees after receiving the award.

“We are thrilled to bag this award as it reflects RTA’s external activities and initiatives targeting all community members, especially the disabled,” he said.

He added that the DTC is always keen on supporting the people with special needs and integrating them in the community through providing dedicated services round-the-clock via the Booking and Dispatch Centre (04-2080808) to travel anywhere in the UAE.

“These vehicles have been fitted with accessories to assist the boarding of the disabled, thus offering them a smooth, convenient and safe travelling experience. These vehicles are recognisable by their red tops, and the logo of a disabled vehicle at the sides of the vehicle and rear windshield,” he informed.
