Sharjah: The Traffic and Licensing Department at Sharjah Police on Monday confirmed that motorists can pay off their traffic fines and violations through using credit cards.

“People can now easily pay off their fines from their home and do not have to go any more to the police stations or Tasjeel to do so,” said Major Arif Mohammad Al Shamsi, Director of Traffci and Licensing Department.

He also denied that there was any difficulty or congestion at the designated outlets that collect the payment of fines.

Motorists can pay off their traffic fines at all police stations in the city, Al Dhaid police station, Traffic and Licensing Department, and Tasjeel Village, in addition to the police’s website.

The statement was made after a local Arabic daily newspaper said that motorists had to queue for a great length of time when trying to pay off their fines at Sharjah police stations, and urged authorities to provide an easy mechanism.

“Motorists should not have any excuse now if they are unable to pay off their fines, and they should take advantage of the online payment service,” said Major Al Shamsi.

“If motorists pay on time, their fines will not be accumulated and that will prevent the financial burden on them.”
