Key roads across Dubai, including Shaikh Zayed, will be closed from February 6-10 for cycling tournament
Dubai: Motorists should plan their routes in advance next week due to a number of road closures that are set to take place from Tuesday.
Dubai Tour, a professional cycling competition that take place every year in the UAE, will run from February 6 -10, 2018, and covers a total span of 870km from Dubai to other emirates.
Cyclists will start their route from 11.10 am until 3.30 pm.
Dubai Tour is organised by Dubai Sports Council in partnership with RCS Sports and Events DMCC.
The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai announced that roads will be closed in Jumeirah, Al Wasl, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Road, Al Khail Road and a number of other main routes frequently used by motorists.
Eng Maitha Bin Adai, chief executive officer of Traffic and Roads Agency, said: “The Tour will not take more than 10 minutes in each sector of the roads through which competitors pass, following which the traffic will be back to normal as per planned stages and timing.”
“The RTA is keen to ease the traffic movement on roads and streets through which the race passes during the five stages of the Tour. Road users areurged to cooperate with the concerned entities to ensure the success of this global event. They are particularly required to follow guidance and directional signs organizing the traffic movement at the said locations in Dubai during the five days of the Tour,” she said.
