Dubai: The 9th edition of Car-Free Day initiative on Sunday will see participation of several government departments in Dubai in addition to hundreds of institutions and bodies.

Organised by Dubai Municipality, this year’s edition is expected to attract more and more public bodies and VIPs, including heads of government departments.

Al Ain, Ajman and Ras Al Khaimah municipalities are also participating in the initiative for the first time, which increases the initiative’s benefits and help reduce the carbon footprint across the country.

The initiative’s events have been launched by Hussain Nasser Lootah, director-general of Dubai Municipality, and a number of directors of government departments at Al Ittihad Park, opposite to the new Dubai Municipality premises in Deira.

Lootah also launched the first environmentally friendly mobile reference station to monitor air pollutants in terms of design and the quality of equipment used. He also launched the Environmental Compliance Guidelines for the Industrial Sector in Dubai.
