Dubai: Commuters in Dubai faced heavy traffic jams across the city due to multiple accidents on Monday.

Dubai Police said that a multi-vehicle crash happened at around 7am on Al Aweer Road, near the headquarters of Dubai Corporation for Ambulance Services.

The accident slowed down traffic flow in Ras Al Khor and Al Khail Road, with police warning motorists to expect delays and take alternative routes.

Two traffic accidents stalled traffic on Hessa Street in the direction towards Al Barsha, with heavy congestion also reported near Dubai Silicone Oasis on the Dubai-Al Ain Road, Jumeirah Village Triangle, and on Shaikh Zayed Road from Al Safa Park to the Al Manara interchange.

An accident was reported at around 9am on Meydan Road, affecting traffic near the Dubai Bowling Centre.

Motorists in Abu Dhabi received good news from authorities, as the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport confirmed the re-opening of Rabdan Street between Khaleej Al Arabi Street and Shaikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street.

Gulf News earlier reported the closure of Rabdan Street after a broken sewer line damaged asphalt on the road, cracking it in half.
