Abu Dhabi: All trucks and 50-seat passenger buses transporting workers will not be allowed to use Abu Dhabi Island’s internal roads during the morning rush hours — from 6.30am to 9am.

The new regulation, which was announced by the Traffic and Patrols Directorate at the Abu Dhabi Police on Wednesday, will go into effect from Sunday, which marks the first day of the new academic year.

Brigadier Ali Khalfan Al Daheri, Director of Central Operations at Abu Dhabi Police, said the regulation comes in line with the police’s priority to make all roads safer and is also part of the traffic safety strategy.

The resolution aims to facilitate students’ access to their schools and reduce risks that might result from the presence of heavy vehicles and trucks, Al Daheri added.
