Dubai: At least 50 buses will operate to shuttle people between Dubai Internet City (DIC) Metro station and Dubai International Cricket Stadium, facilitating the movement of thousands of people attending Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s public address on Monday.

The double-decker buses, with a capacity of 81 passengers each, will operate every 10 minutes between DIC Metro station and Dubai International Cricket Stadium from 3pm to 7pm. The return service will operate between 9pm and 10.30pm.

A 4,000 capacity car park near the cricket stadium has been allotted for motorists, from where at least 10 buses will shuttle people to the venue of the address.

Mohammad Al Ali, Director of Buses at RTA’s Public Transport Agency, urged the people who wish to attend the address to use public transport in order to avoid congestion around the stadium.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is coordinating with Dubai Police to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the vicinity of the venue.

Special directional signs have been set up to direct vehicles to the car park, from where the people will be transported to the stadium buses.

Apart from the buses and Metro, more than 1,000 taxis will be deployed for one of the most anticipated events for the 2.6 million-strong Indian community.
