Dubai: Commuters on Sunday started out their first day of the week in heavy traffic jams after a number of accidents broke out across busy highways and byways.

Dubai Police reported an accident at around 8am on Academic City Road from the Al Warqaa roundabout towards the Al Khawaneej roundabout, which caused a backlog of traffic in the area.

Another accident also affected traffic flow on Shaikh Zayed Road, Dubai bound, which caused traffic delays from Mall of the Emirates to Al Safa interchange.

Three more accidents led to clogged roads on Rebat Street, with delays in traffic flow also around Jumeirah Village Triangle, Ras Al Khor Road and near Dubai Investment Park.

Traffic congestion delayed motorists in Abu Dhabi on Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Street, in addition to Salam Street, Al Khaleej Al Arabi Street and the Abu Dhabi-Al Ain Road around Al Maqta Bridge.
