Dubai: Heavy vehicles in Dubai will have to undergo mandatory tests and registration in a single process from December, the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced.
The new move covers trucks, trailers, and semi-trailers.
The tests and registration will be carried out simultaneously at all the heavy vehicle testing and licensing centres in Dubai.
“The RTA has opted to carry out a simultaneous testing and registration of the truck and trailer’ combined in order to better protect roads, and curb crashes triggered by negligence,” said Mohammad Abdul Kareem Nimaat, Director of RTA Vehicles Licensing.
“Previously we used to carry out testing and licensing of trucks only; which has the potential of posing several risks to lives and properties. This prompted us to develop procedures aimed at protecting all concerned parties through introducing mandatory testing and registration of trailers and semi-trailers to ensure their roadworthiness,” he added.
