Dubai: At the 3rd edition of Market Outside The Box (OTB) in Burj Park, a magnetic attraction of the Dubai Shopping Festival, food trucks have become a mainstay so people can enjoy shopping and then delight in savouring freshly prepared food in a relaxing ambience. Most of these food trucks are fairly new to the food scene in Dubai.

Leny Flores and Rafael Villacorta, both 29, and from the Phillipines, are snacking on multi-coloured nachos near a truck serving Mexican fare.

Flores, a regular at OTB, said: “I am quite a foodie and I have already eaten at various food trucks at the Market. This concept is very attractive because I can enjoy delicious food while watching the entertainment with friends.”

Villacorta is visiting Market OTB for the first time and as he dips a nacho into guacamole, says, “I love nachos and Mexican food so I have had to try this. The guacamole and the salsa are both prepared from scratch, you can actually taste their freshness.”

Anastasia Voitik, 27, from Belarus, knows what she wants — a robust burger sitting on a bed of hot fries.

“Coming with friends to such a place is an incredible way to chill out. Today, I just felt like ordering a burger.

“Life doesn’t get better than this,” she says, as the next round of music on the main stage begins.

Market OTB ends on January 30, but the food truck concept is here to stay as more people want to enjoy the unconventional in a park atmosphere.
