Dubai: Revellers will be able to enjoy the New Year celebrations from the luxury of Roads and Transport Authority’s (RTA) ferry cruise, offering exclusive views of fireworks from the seaside.

The authority announced special marine services on Tuesday on the eve of New Year, including ferry, waterbuses as well as water taxis.

Apart from extension of all transport services on new year’s eve, special cruise trips have been announced starting from 11pm on December 31 and continuing until 1am on January 1, 2013.

“We believe in providing exclusive services for our customers and the ferry and water taxi service will provide a special seaside view to people who want to watch the fireworks away from the crowd,” Eisa Abdur Rahman Al Dossary, CEO of RTA’s Public Transport Agency.

The first ferry, which has a capacity for 100 passengers, will begin its journey from Al Ghubaiba at 11pm and will stop in a special position on the beach to soak in the fireworks at Burj Khalifa. The passengers will also be able to enjoy fireworks at Burj Al Arab, on the Creek as well as at the Atlantis.

The ferry will return to Al Ghubaiba following its trip all the way to Atlantis.

The fare will remain the same – Dh75 for Gold class and Dh50 for Silver class – and will include snacks.

Water taxis will also operate from all 29 stations from Jebel Ali to Al Mamzar between 11pm and 1am on New Year’s eve, which will also be available for passengers to charter, while water buses will also be available during this time at Dubai Creek.
