Plan to cover motorists in all emirates

Dubai: The police is planning to expand the coverage of its white points plan to cover motorists whose driving licences are registered or issued in any of the emirates.

White points is part of the police plan to reduce road deaths to 120 or fewer by the end of the year, a step towards the 2020 goal of zero accidents.

If a driver commits a serious violation which carries a penalty 24 black points and leads to licence cancellation, the person will not be eligible for white points for the entire year.

White points can used to cancel certain fines.

Different companies will sponsor the white point system and the winners will be given generous gifts including shopping coupons.
