Over 500 diabetic patients in the region were provided easy yet innovative diabetes management solutions free of cost for a year by Aster DM Health Care’s chronic home care system in conjunction with global pharmaceutical organisation Novartis to mark World Diabetes Day

The system known as Chronic Care@Home, seeks to improve individual control over chronic conditions such as diabetes and hypertension in the home environment

This partnership allows 500 registered patients from across the region to avail of telehealth services at home. The registrants are provided with diabetes and blood pressure monitoring devices, Upon conclusion of the free 1 year service, the patients will be provided service renewal at special discounted costs. Aster Chronic Care@ Home has already registered 100+ participants under the Novartis sponsorship.

As per reports from the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) 415 million people in the world suffer from diabetes, out of which 35.4 million are in the MENA region. These regional figures are estimated to rise to 72.1 million by the year 2040. Sedentary lifestyle, unhealthy dietary practices, obesity, etc. are the most common risk factors leading to a rise in the number of diabetics in the region. The situation demands prompt intervention from health care players in the private and public sector.
