Dubai: Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs held a ceremony to honour sponsors and organisations for their commitment to their students.

Shaikh Mansour Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Supreme Committee for the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, was announced as the Honorary Patron of Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs at the event. Shaikh Mansour toured the centre where he witnessed a demonstration of the smart classroom and launched it to allow students to engage in mainstream activities.

Al Noor Training Centre for Children with Special Needs can accommodate up to 300 children and is currently serving children from different nationalities.

Abdullah Al Shaibani, General Secretary of Dubai Executive Council and Vice-President of the Supreme Committee of Protecting the Rights of People with Disabilities, said, “Catering to the needs of the special needs community is the most important priority for the Dubai Government and, by 2020, Dubai will be a friendly city for people with disabilities, helping them to obtain equal opportunities in learning and working fields.”

During the ceremony, supporters of the training centre were recognised and honoured for their efforts throughout the years. The gesture was to demonstrate appreciation for sponsoring companies, shareholders and benefactors for their contributions to the success of Al Noor.

“Al Noor has grown from strength to strength through the sustained goodwill of our long-term supporters,” Isphana Al Khatib, Director of Al Noor Centre, said.

Dubai Police, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Standard Chartered Bank, Dubai Duty Free, Roads and Transport Authority and Dubai Municipality are among the companies and entities honoured in the ceremony. Beit Al Noor Endowment was also highlighted at the event for their unique model in driving long-term and sustainable philanthropic support.
