Abu Dhabi: Authorities have temporarily closed down a restaurant in the capital for violating food safety rules and regulations.

Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) took action against ‘All Stir Fry’ restaurant operating inside Mushrif Mall as the management failed to correct the violations even after the inspectors warned them during their visits, said Thamer Al Qasimi, an ADFCA spokesperson, in a press release.

He said ADFCA inspectors had issued ‘notice’, ‘warning’ and ‘final warning’ before slapping them with ticket for violation.

“As there was no positive response even after these procedural steps, we moved to close the facility [temporarily] to avoid risks it creates to the health and safety of the public,” Al Qasimi said.

The restaurant will remain closed until the management corrects the violations.

The violations were listed as poor storage of food products, presence of food products without labels, poor hygiene in the kitchen and storage, poor condition of flooring and roofs, leaving kitchen door open, keeping inflammable objects and personal clothing near food products, presence of insects, non-renewal of pest control contract, non-completion of expected percentage of staff training and no renewal of trade licence for the facility.

The ADFCA official urged the public to be careful about safety of food. He requested consumers to contact authorities at 800555 if they find any kind of violations.

No comment from the restaurent was available as phone calls from Gulf News went unanswered.
