Sharjah: Police are investigating the death of an Iraqi girl who died on Monday evening allegedly due to medical negligence, an official told Gulf News.

The family of the 17-year-old girl, identified as S.A., alleged that their daughter died due to medical negligence.

The victim was admitted to a private medical centre in Al Buhaira area in Sharjah for treatment and was later transferred to Al Qasimi Hospital.

An official at Al Qasimi Hospital told Gulf News that the victim was brought to the hospital and she was declared dead on arrival.

The family filed a police complaint with Wasit police station claiming that their daughter was given “wrong medication” leading to her death.

Police have ordered the girl’s body be moved to the forensic laboratory for an autopsy.

An officer from Wasit police station said the private medical centre has been directed to hand over the victim’s medical file along with details of her treatment.
