Abu Dhabi: No public facilities and retail outlets were found violating an emirate-wide ban on smoking in public spaces during a recent series of inspections, the Municipality of Abu Dhabi City announced in a statement sent today (August 31).

The inspection, which focused on outlets in the capital’s suburbs, found that outlets adhered to the ban, which aims to protect public health and safety from the harms of tobacco smoking.

During the checks, municipal inspectors also handed out educational brochures to highlight the risks of smoking, and stressed that a Dh1,000 fine applies to any violator found smoking in non-designated public facilities.
