Dubai: The Ministry of Health and Prevention has warned against the use of six counterfeit pharmaceutical products adulterated with undeclared substances that may cause a sharp drop in blood pressure and pose a grave danger to patients with heart disease or diabetes or high level of fat, especially those who are taking medicines containing nitrates.

The ministry issued six circulars featuring warnings of the products that are used as food supplements to enhance men’s sexual performance, following the warning by the US Food and Drugs Administration (FDA).

Dr Ameen Hussain Al Ameri, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry for Public Health Policy and licensing and Chairman of the Supreme Committee for Pharmaceutical Fraud, said the circulars were issued following contacts with FDA, which asked competent authorities to withdraw the products from the market and prevent their circulation.

Al Amiri said the six products are not registered with the Drugs Department at the ministry.

The products include “Tornado”, “Z Daily “, “Xrect”, “Cummor”, “Big N Hard”, and “Monkey Business” which are used as food supplements to enhance men’s sexual potency.

Laboratory tests conducted by FDA showed that these products contain undeclared substances that proved to have caused a sharp drop in blood pressure and may pose a significant threat to patients with heart disease, diabetes or high fat, especially those who are taking medicines that contain nitrates.

This may lead to serious complications.
