Dubai: The Ministry of Health and Prevention has officially launched the Health Heroes App, as part of its participation in the UAE Innovation Week 2016.
The app aims to foster children’s skills and provide them with new information that heightens their awareness on the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle to avoid childhood obesity.
Commenting on the occasion, Dr Hussain Abdul Rahman Al Rand, assistant undersecretary for Health Centres and Clinics, said, “The launch of the app comes as part of the federal government strategy to bring down childhood obesity rates and is also part of a number of government initiatives that promote preventive health behaviour among children in the UAE.”
Through such events, the ministry aims to develop a national action plan within a specific time frame and assessment indicators to encourage individuals to adopt a healthy lifestyle in the fight against obesity, Al Rand added.
