Dubai: The Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Award for Medical Sciences has allocated Dh2 million to fund 10 scientific projects from the UAE University, University of Sharjah, New York University Abu Dhabi, and Dubai Health Authority.

It brings the total number of the academic projects funded by the award to 132 since its establishment in 1999, said Abdullah Bin Souqat, executive director of the award. He conveyed his gratitude to Shaikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and Minister of Finance, who is the award’s patron, for his continuous support to science.

He also thanked the members of the scientific committee of the award for their efforts in the selection of the unique topics.

The selected projects focus on the study of a number of diseases suffered by many segments of society, which puts financial and psychological stress on patients, society and the country in general.
