Dubai: New state-of-the-art labour facilities, a new neonatal resuscitation room and centralised foetal monitory system are some of the high-tech features added by Dubai Hospital that announced the re-opening of its fully renovated and expanded labour suite.

All rooms in the labour suite have undergone a complete renovation to ensure that the facilities meet the highest standard/

Following the upgrade and expansion work, all rooms in the labour suite are now single occupancy, equipped with advanced technology and resources to meet the needs of women in labour and their families from admission to discharge. These changes have been very well received by patients and staff, providing a new degree of comfort and luxury to women in labour.

The second neonatal resuscitation room allows for more immediate and better management of those babies who require resuscitation measures and airway management at birth, such as premature babies.

The newly installed centralised foetal monitoring system will allow for closer monitoring of the baby’s heart rate during labour by both midwives and doctors. The system includes a central screen that can be monitored at all times that simultaneously displays heart rates of all the babies in every room. The system enables the staff to respond rapidly to deal with any foetal distress.

Dr Abdul Rahman Al Jasmi, CEO of Dubai Hospital, said: “These renovations will enable Dubai Hospital to provide a much more contemporary and enhanced model of care to the more than 3,000 mothers who choose to give birth here each year. We are delighted that these enhanced facilities will improve women’s experience of giving birth and bringing a precious new life into the world. We will continue to improve all aspects of maternity care in Dubai Hospital as we know that it makes a significant difference to outcomes for mothers and their babies.”
