Sharjah: Some medical services, such as dialysis and intensive care, will be offered at a discount by University Hospital Sharjah (UHS) for patients referred by Sharjah Charity International, under a new agreement between the two establishments.

The agreement was signed on Sunday at UHS between UHS chairman Abdullah Al Mahyan and Abdullah Sultan Bin Khadim, executive director and board member of Sharjah Charity International.

It outlines specially designed medical services at subsidised pricing to patients sponsored by the charity, which will evaluate needy cases.

UHS provides a wide range of specialised medical care, from outpatient consultations and minor surgeries to long-term treatment plans in their Emergency (NICU, ICU), Oncology, Surgical and Obstetrics departments.

Al Mahyan said: “This is a significant relationship for UHS, as we are reaching out to meet the vision of the hospital in providing quality health care. The collaboration paves the way for the provision of dialysis, intensive care and other specialised treatments at a very affordable cost. It also further extends coverage to a larger community to ensure that UHS is acknowledged as a leading health care institution in Sharjah, the region, and eventually, the world.”

Bin Khadim said: “We are honoured to be a part of this MoU and look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with UHS. We are certain that the members, employees and other beneficiaries of our charity institution will benefit greatly from this agreement, especially those patients who are unable to pay for treatment.”
