The award that honours exceptional contributions and innovations in health care throughout UAE is the brain child of Thumbay Moiuddin, and has begun with honouring the country’s health care professionals. it is poised to go regional and eventually global, said Moiuddin.

“The UAE over the last few decades has incorporated global best practices in the health care sector. This sector is forecasted to grow by nearly Dh17 billion by 2020. This is a first award of its kind that was conceived to honour and recognise the private sector health care contributors along with the public health sector workers. People in the UAE want to know what are the top health care facilities and who are the excellent contributors. While this award is setting up those standards we are also in the process of compiling an exhaustive list of the 100 best health care services that include public and private sector hospitals, physiotherapy units, pharmacies, clinics in the UAE based on a survey we are conducting. This survey will look at customer satisfaction and facilities in rating the places and serve as a ready reckoner for all residents.”

Dr Ajit Nagpal, chairman and director general of Amity Univeristy and chairman of the six-member jury for the award added: “The award has 14 corporate and nine individual categories where groups or individuals can be nominated online on www.healthmagazine.ae/awards. Each category has strict selection criteria and a panel of six jury members as well as 20 independent assessors will arbitrate over the selection. This year the award panel has also included interviews and site visits to be extra vigilant in selecting the most deserving candidate.”
