Dubai: Noor Dubai Foundation raised Dh14.7 million from the Art4Sight charity exhibition and auction held on April 28.

Noor Dubai Foundation held its fifth edition of the Art4Sight exhibition and auction, held at the Zabeel Ladies Club, to raise money to fund blindness treatment, prevention and education programmes globally. Participating in the event were 34 artists from around the world with a total of 44 pieces of artwork donated to help raise funds.

“Through the funds raised by Art4Sight, we hope to restore eyesight as well as provide medication to protect against preventable blindness and provide glasses to those who cannot afford them,” said Dr Manal Taryam, CEO of Noor Dubai Foundation.

She highlighted that most of the funds raised from the exhibition and auction will be used for Noor Dubai’s mobile eye camps in countries in need. The mobile eye camps, which will visit Casablanca in Morocco next month, will aim at providing services to 5,000 people per week in each country.

Among the participating artists in the Art4Sight exhibition and auction are Najat Makki, Abdul Qader Al Rais, Houmam Al Sayed, Riyadh Neama and Manal Al Dowayan.

Noor Dubai Foundation is also committed to eliminating trachoma in the Amhara Region in Ethiopia through its collaboration with The Carter Foundation. Both foundations have looked into restarting the elimination programme of river blindness in Uganda.
