The Health Authority – Abu Dhabi (Haad), the regulator of the healthcare sector in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, announced on Monday that Abu Dhabi residents can now collect birth certificates at 22 public and private healthcare facilities across the emirate. This eliminates the need for visiting Haad customer service centres and thus increases the speed and convenience of obtaining birth certificates for newborns, said a Haad press release.
Helal Khamis Al Muraikhi, director of customer care and corporate communications at Haad, said : “A projected 30,000 people will benefit from the electronic birth certificate service at Abu Dhabi hospitals in 2017. This step will effectively lead to an increase in the quality of healthcare services available — improving the speed and ease of access — and enhance customer satisfaction in the emirate of Abu Dhabi. The official said that electronically linking the healthcare facilities and centres with Haad, is the most important element to help realise this service. It allows the hospitals to electronically send Haad all required copies of original documents needed. Haad then validates the accuracy and completion of the paperwork and provides the necessary approval for printing the certificate at the hospital, Al Muraikhi said.
Haad has signed a series of agreements with private hospitals allowing for parents and legal custodians to request birth certificates at the healthcare facility where their child was born. These hospitals include, Burjeel Hospital, Life Line Hospital (LLH), Lifecare Hospital, Medeor 24x7 Hospital, NMC Specialty Hospital, NMC Royal Hospital, Brightpoint Royal Women’s Hospital, Danat Al Emarat Women & Children’s Hospital, Universal Hospital and Al-Ahlia Hospital.
The birth certificate service is available at 11 public healthcare facilities. These are; Corniche Hospital, Tawam Hospital, Mafraq Hospital, Al Ain Hospital, Al Rahba Hospital, Madinat Zayed Hospital, Ruwais Hospital, Ghayathi Hospital, Marfa Hospital, Al Sila Hospital and Delma Hospital.
Documents required for the issuance of a new birth certificate include the original birth notification provided by the hospital, the family book (UAE Nationals only) as well as the parents’ passports, marriage certificate and identity cards, said the press release.
