Abu Dhabi: A total of 849 women have been screened for breast cancer as part of a cancer awareness drive launched by the Ambulatory Healthcare Services, which manages public clinics in the emirate of Abu Dhabi.

The women have been screened as a part of a two-month campaign that offers the checks free of charge, and a few individuals have been referred for further testing to tertiary hospitals in the emirate. The breast cancer awareness initiative kicked off on October 10 and continues until December 10, the authority announced in a statement on Monday.
