Sharjah/Ajman: Federal National Council election winners in Sharjah and Ajman say they will put their best foot forward to work hard on behalf of the voters who supported them on Saturday.

And they said there are many issues to address to maintain the quality, security and health of the country.

In Sharjah, Retd Major General Saleim Obaid Al Hassani, a winner of the FNC election, received 644 votes and said he felt blessed to receive the confidence of so many voters.

He told Gulf News that his agenda will focus on political empowerment, women empowerment, health, and education which are considered the pillars of life.

Al Hassani said he will do his best to keep these issues at the forefront of discussion and debate for the betterment of the UAE.

He noted that he was very proud of the people of his emirate as they do their best and came to the polling station to vote.

“I promised all those who came and voted for me that I will fulfil my agenda,” Al Hassani said, adding he could not express in words his happiness to win in the FNC election.

Al Hassani said he was swamped with warm greetings from members of his family, community and emirate as well as across the country.

“I cannot describe my feelings,” he said.

Meanwhile, in Ajman, winner Hamad Abdullah Saeed Abdullah Al Gafli, who received 723 votes, said he was overwhelmed with a sense of duty as a newfound member of the FNC.

Their campaigns focused on the development of the country and its infrastructure, education, health and environment.

“I will do my best to develop the standards of life for the citizen,” Al Gafli told Gulf News.

He thanked all who trusted him and cast their ballots.

“I am really happy with this great achievement. I congratulated all those who won and wishing the best for all of those who did not win,” Al Ghafli said.
