Dubai: Users of nuclear- and radiation-related technologies in the UAE can now process their documents and licences with the UAE’s Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) through its online portal.

The authority on Monday launched the portal (https://elicense.fanr.gov.ae) for its e-licensing service to allow UAE entities to efficiently conduct many of their licence-related procedures such as applying for new or renewed licences, applying to import, export or transport radioactive materials, and submitting routine operating records.

These records enable FANR to build a National Dose Register and National Source Register which are FANR functions according to the Nuclear Law.

The new system will enable FANR to consider applicants’ requests and reports more rapidly and accurately, and it reflects FANR’s commitment to offering the best possible service to its clients. The process also reduces paper use and ensures clients’ convenience.

The new service will be in line with FANR’s smart government initiative and its vision to move from physical to digital licensing process and services.

“We are proud to improve our service for the many UAE businesses that use radiation-related technologies,” said Mohammad Sultan Al Zaabi, FANR deputy director-general for Administration. “FANR is committed to continuously developing smart management solutions that serve its role of overseeing the safe, secure and peaceful nature of all nuclear- and radiation-related activities in the UAE.”

FANR helps to protect people and the environment from the potentially harmful effects of radiation by overseeing the use of nuclear- and radiation-related activities in the UAE. To date, FANR has issued about 1,400 licences for these activities in the UAE.
