Dubai: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) boosting joint cooperation in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation between the UAE and United States (US) was signed yesterday on the sidelines of the World Government Summit.

The MoU stipulates the exchange of expertise in the field of innovation and entrepreneurship where the two parties will facilitate, motivate and organise sharing these while focusing on the development of innovation policy.

It also states exchanging views in order to explore new avenues of cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

Regarding Intellectual Property Rights, the two sides will be keen to exchange information about preserving intellectual property rights, that are necessary for encouraging innovation and establishing businesses.

Both parties will also seek to organise joint events that would further boost relations in the field of networking.

Both sides agreed on encouraging and facilitating exchanging visits of experts and innovators, businessmen and entrepreneurs from the public and private sectors in order to share views, knowledge and ideas that will serve both nations.

Abdullah Al Saleh, Undersecretary of Foreign Trade and Industry, and Stefan M. Selig, US Undersecretary of International Trade, signed the MoU.

The signing ceremony was attended by Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri, Minister of Economy, and Barbara A. Leaf, US Ambassador to the UAE, as well as other senior officials.
