Umm Al Quwain: His Highness Shaikh Saud Bin Rashid Al Mualla, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Umm Al Quwain, inaugurated on Wednesday the 33-metre-high Martyrs’ Memorial in the emirate.

Spread over an area of 15,000 square metres, the memorial, which was built in 13 months, is covered by a layer of glass reinforced plastic (GRP).

Speaking on the occasion, Shaikh Saud said the UAE martyrs’ sacrifices are an illustration of their sincere loyalty to their country and leadership, which was established by the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

The inauguration ceremony began by observing a minute of silence. Then, Shaikh Saud raised the UAE flag with the national anthem playing at the Martyrs’ Square.

During the ceremony, Shaikh Saud presented trophies to families of Emirati martyrs, praying to Al Mighty Allah to rest their souls in eternal peace.

The ceremony was attended by a number of Shaikhs and senior officials.
