Dubai has welcomed the first Indian passport holder with a valid American visa and granted him visa on arrival on the early hours of May 1, officials said on Tuesday.

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai, posted on their Instagram account a picture of the Indian passenger after his arrival.

“On the first day of activating the new order to Indian passport holders with a valid American visa for six months or a Green Card, our officers welcomed the first Indian passenger on the early hours at Dubai International Airport,” the GDRFA said.

The passenger was not identified by the officials.

The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation circulated a letter to authorities to grant the UAE visa to Indians with valid America visa or Green Card following a Cabinet decision last month.

The decision to have a simplified visa process is aimed at advancing the UAE-India relations in economic, politics, and trade.

It also contributes to achieving UAE’s vision to be the leading country in attracting global tourism.
