Dubai: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai has ordered the implementation of the Berwaz Tower — Dubai Land Mark project at Zabeel Park — Dubai.
Shaikh Mohammad viewed the map of the tourist project in the presence of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.
Engineer Hussain Lootah, Dubai Municipality’s Director General, said that the Dubai Land Mark with a total cost of Dh120 million is a promising tourism project and expected to attract about two million visitors and tourists. The tower has an altitude of 150 metres and width of 105 metres.
He emphasised that the project will start within four months and will be completed by the end of next year.
The Berwaz Tower Dubai was among almost 926 suggested designs for a symbolic tower to be built in Dubai’s Zabeel Park.
The aim of building this tower is to add an aesthetic aspect to Dubai’s already distinguished buildings and to encourage local and international engineers.
The design plan was to set up a frame-like building structure which will embrace the development and high standards of the emirate. The Berwaz or “frame” building is also intended to showcase Dubai in an aesthetic manner. The frame like structure will resemble a sort of a symbolic window which is the basic idea of the project, which is located between old and new Dubai.
The tower includes a ground floor with cultural facilities such as a photography exhibition of scenes from old and modern Dubai. The top of the tower will comprise a 150-metre-high glass floor bridge.
The whole concept of the tower is to add more sparkle to Dubai’s modern and civilised facet, while promoting tourism and other recreational, scientific, and cultural activities throughout the premises.
