Abu Dhabi: The UAE has topped the list of Arab countries in terms of law enforcement for the second year in a row at a rate of 0.67, while Denmark came in first place internationally at a rate of 0.87.

In the annual report on the law enforcement index by the International Justice Project, the UAE came in first place among the countries of the Middle East and North Africa due to its ranking in competitive factors such as safety.

In terms of elements such as dealing with crime, resolving civil disagreements, resorting to non-violence to solve problems, the UAE achieved a 0.91 rating. This was followed by lack of corruption among government officials where the UAE got a 0.82 rating, and the criminal court system where the UAE stood at 0.77.

The report said that the UAE is achieving positive results in terms of improving police performance as respondents said that the police act according to the law, and respect the rights of those who are arrested. Other countries that follow the same police standards include New Zealand, Japan and South Korea.

Abdullah Lootah, Secretary-General of the Federal Competitiveness Council, said that the report’s findings attest the UAE’s position as a tourist, commercial, and investment destination with high safety standards.
