Abu Dhabi: The UAE will participate in the 104th session of the International Labour Conference from June 1-13 in Geneva, Switzerland, with participation of labourers, employers and government delegates from the ILO’s 185 member states.

Saqr Gobash, Minister of Labour, will lead the UAE delegation which includes a number of the ministry’s undersecretaries, representatives of the Ministry of Economy, National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), Mohammad Bin Rashid Establishment for SME Development, and stakeholders.

Gobash will also take part in the 50th GCC labour ministers meeting, due to be held on the sidelines of the conference. The meeting will tackle the issues to be discussed by the conference, with the aim to coordinate positions to boost the GCC joint action.

The 104th session of the International Labour Conference will tackle the report presented by ILO’s director-general and a wide range of issues, including the transition from an informal to formal economy, small and medium-sized enterprises and decent and productive employment creation, social protection (labour protection), the application of international labour standards, and programme and budget proposals for 2016-17.
