Abu Dhabi: The Martyrs’ Family Affairs Office at the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court announced a joint initiative with the General Authority for Islamic Affairs and Endowments for naming mosques after nation’s martyrs.

As per the initiative, mosques located in areas close to the residency of martyrs’ families will be named after the men who sacrificed their lives for protecting the honour of their homeland, whether those who fell as martyrs in the UAE or beyond.

According to Dr Mohammad Mattar Al Kaabi, Chairman of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowments, the initiative exemplifies the great meaning of martyrdom in Islam and is a tribute to mark the martyrs’ heroism and sacrifices for the nation and commemorate their sacrafices. He said the authority will embark on naming the first batch of mosques in memory of the brave martyrs.
