Abu Dhabi: His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Wednesday received King Abdullah II of Jordan and his delegation.

The two leaders discussed bilateral relations and a number of topics related to UAE-Jordan cooperation.

King Abdullah voiced his profound appreciation for the constant support provided by the UAE to Jordan under the leadership of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan in various domains. Shaikh Mohammad underlined that the UAE would put its potential and expertise in the fields of technology, smart governments, tourism and infrastructure in serving Jordan and other sisterly Arab countries.

Shaikh Mohammad was briefed by King Abdullah on the latest developments about the Arab city of Jerusalem in light of the recent events that happened in the city.

Earlier, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received King Abdullah.

The meeting touched on a number of topics, and current regional and international developments of mutual concern.

Speaking about developments pertaining to the Palestinian issue, Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed and King Abdullah stressed the importance of preserving the current legal and historic status of the Holy City, because it is the key to achieving peace in the region.

They also reaffirmed that coordination and consultation will continue when it comes to current situations and confronting challenges facing Arab countries, particularly combatting terrorist and extremist organisation. They said that this falls within the framework of joint Arab work, which in turn enhances security and stability in the region.

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed and King Abdullah also emphasised the importance of bolstering joint Arab work to face challenges and dangers, bolster security and stability in the region and consolidate concepts of tolerance, civilised dialogue and coexistence between different peoples.

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed stressed the depth of the historic bilateral relations between UAE and Jordan and their shared keenness to further strengthen them.

The Abu Dhabi Crown Prince added that the UAE, under the leadership of Shaikh Khalifa, is always striving to bolster brotherly relations with Jordan to achieve mutual interests. He added that the UAE is keen to develop joint Arab work, especially in light of challenges facing the region such as terrorism, extremism and foreign interference in the internal affairs of nations.

Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed said that Jordan is a key partner for the Gulf Cooperation Council in facing regional issues that threaten the security, stability and coexistence in the region.

King Abdullah was received upon his arrival at the Presidential Airport in Abu Dhabi by Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed.
