Dubai: The UAE Embassy in London has warned Emiratis to stay clear from the areas affected by Saturday night’s terror attack, which killed seven people and injuring more than 30.

On Sunday, the  UAE Embassy tweeted out a cautionary message to citizens, urging Emiratis to avoid London Bridge and Borough Market, and to follow the instructions of the London Metropolitan Police.

Ahmad Al Ham Al Dhahiri, UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MoFAIC's) Assistant Under-Secretary for Consular Affairs, said the warning was issued due to the country's concern about the safety of its citizens abroad, and was based on the ministry's assessment of risks and threats.

The MoFAIC also affirmed the UAE's firm and clear stance against extremism and terrorism, stressing that the terrorist crimes of London, “reaffirm the urgent need for international efforts to combat extremism and terrorism in all its forms.”

The ministry also called for joint cooperation from countries against security threats.

The ministry also expressed its sincere condolences and condolences to the families of the victims of the terror attack.

In a media statement, Metropolitan Police commissioner Cressida Dick in London advised anyone who is currently within the cordoned area to stay inside.

“London Bridge Station and Underground is also closed. So for people who might be thinking of travelling to that area, I would ask you to avoid it if you possibly can,” she said.

The commissioner also stated that an emergency number has been established for anyone who is concerned for loved ones who perhaps not have returned home.

UAE condemns London attacks

Meanwhile, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has condemned the terrorist attacks which targeted the British capital. 

In a statement on Sunday, the ministry emphasised the UAE's firm stance against extremism and terrorism, stressing that London's terrorist attacks reaffirm the urgent need for concerted international efforts to combat terrorism in all forms and manifestations.

The ministry added that innocent civilians pay the price of these terrorist crimes, calling for joint cooperation and addressing this serious scourge that threatens the security and stability of countries all over the world. 

The ministry expressed its sincere condolences to the families of the victims, wishing for a speedy recovery for those injured.
