Vienna: The UAE Embassy in Austria, headed by Abdul Hadi Abdul Wahid Al Khaja, UAE Ambassador to Vienna, has taken part in the 47th edition of the annual United Nations Women’s Guild International Charity Bazaar, held at the International Centre of the United Nations Office in Vienna, with the participation of some 80 countries.

The bazaar aims to raise funds to support charitable projects that help underprivileged children worldwide, and also finances mother and child protection programmes worldwide. This year, a large portion of the revenue will be used to help Syrian refugees in Austria.

The official opening of the event was attended by the UAE Ambassador yesterday, who also welcomed guests to the participating UAE pavilion. Al Khaja was accompanied by members of the UAE mission, Badria Abdullah Al Shehi and Fahd Rashed Al Habsi, and a number of embassy staff.

During the event, the UAE donated ¤10,000 (Dh38,905.72) for the benefit of children’s charities around the world, a contribution that is consistent with the UAE’s generous policy and its keen interest to provide humanitarian assistance to people in need in other countries and in all fields.
