Dubai: The UAE Government Leaders Programme organised a visit to the US for 30 members of the Innovative Leaders Programme to exchange knowledge, experiences and best practices in the public and private sectors, and enhance the participants’ leadership skills and knowledge based on innovation.

During the tour, the delegation showcased the UAE’s efforts to design future smart cities based on innovative models in a workshop organised for members of Seattle Chamber of Commerce, attended by a number of dignitaries, researchers and students.

Abdullah Bin Touq, executive director of Excellence and Leadership at Prime Minister’s Office, said the tour focussed on promoting the UAE’s position as a global model in innovative and forward-looking government.

During its US visit, the delegation was briefed on ‘Seattle 2030’, a model of future cities based on innovative approach to reduce environmental impact and carbon emissions. During a visit to the headquarters of Microsoft in Seattle, the delegation got to learn about the work culture in the company and how it assists in the transition to smart government and shaping of cities of the future through its ‘Next City’ project. The delegation also visited the offices of Google, and was briefed on the methods of attracting talent and the adoption of innovative evaluation of staff.
