Abu Dhabi: The UAE has announced the allocation of $50 million (Dh184 million) to support the stability and reconstruction of Mosul after its expected liberation from Daesh.
The UAE initiative aims to support the humanitarian response plan for Mosul after its liberation and to support the stability and the reconstruction of the city, in line with the constant international efforts to help the city.
The UAE has topped the list of donor countries and offered different types of aid and helped ease the suffering of friendly countries around the world.
The UAE as an active country believes that it is very important to nip terrorism in the bud and give priority to the liberated areas to mitigate the social and economic consequences resulting from activities of extremist groups and enhancing the stability of these areas as well as helping displaced people return to their homes.
The move comes in line with the UAE’s approach to support Iraq. Last April it announced the provision of Dh37 million to support efforts to restore stability in the three liberated cities of Anbar, Diyala and Salahuddin.
Iraq has received from the UAE different types of aid worth Dh670 million over the past five years, according to the statistics of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
